Synopsis

The Journey, based on the writings of Matei Visniec, one of the greatest contemporary Romanian playwrights, weaves a tale of love and loneliness. The two characters dive into the paradoxical aspect of intimacy while experiencing their reality as a dream-like state.

We are presented with a simple, almost quotidian premise: A man wakes up next to a beautiful woman after what seems to have been a wild night together. He tries to find out her name. Her answers are elusive and only deepen the mystery. Her charm is undeniable and as the plot progresses, we see our protagonist falling for her. Are we witnessing a classical story of unrequited love? Is her presence an opportunity for him to learn a bigger lesson? Or is there more to this strange encounter?

Former big events seem to become footnotes. Will this night deviate the course of his destiny, or are we witnessing a dream within a dream? He forgets, he remembers, and in the end, forgets everything. Or does he?
